Scrum Master/Project Manager

MetaOptima Technology Inc. is one of Canada’s fastest growing startups looking for a motivated and resourceful Scrum Master/Project Manager. We design and build complex and cool devices as well as develop the next generation of mobile and web digital health solutions. We are focused on empowering physicians with mobile health technologies and providing tools for dermatology and the early detection of skin cancer.

You will be responsible for managing the challenge of handling our largest development projects that span multiple development groups and technical structures. You will manage the scrum processes, organize and facilitate all scrum ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily scrums, sprint reviews/demo, sprint retrospective, backlog grooming. You know the value of helping remove roadblocks, tracking key performance metrics and making them visible to the teams.

Your Responsibilities

  • Guiding and coaching the team including self-organization and cross-functionality

  • Removing impediments for the team or directing impediments to appropriate owners for quick resolution

  • Facilitating scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, retrospectives, and stand-up meetings

  • Supporting techniques for effective Product Backlog management

  • Identifying, managing and helping mitigate project issues and risks

  • Providing perspective to the team and keeps team focused on critical deliverables and tasks

  • liaise between the dev team and the clients

  • Understand how to use the JIRA cloud software

  • Serve as Scrum Master for all its ceremonies

  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time and within scope

  • Developing project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.

  • Ensure resource availability and allocation

  • Develop a detailed project plan to track progress

  • Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques

  • Report and escalate to management as needed

  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation

  • Ensuring that the product functions as requirements in scope

We believe the ideal candidate will have:

  • Computer Science degree or equivalent experience with at least 2 years’ experience in a Scrum Master role

  • Strong documentation skills

  • Experience in conducting and facilitating all scrum ceremonies (sprint planning, daily Scrum, sprint review/demo, sprint retrospective, backlog grooming).

  • Knowledge of numerous well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous Burndown techniques, numerous Retrospective formats)

  • Collaborative approach to decision-making on teams

  • Being able to manage clear communication channels with the team to ensure effective communication to mitigate any issues upon team delivery.

  • Experience with Project Management, and Scrum Master duties

  • Experience using evidence based metrics to create reliable project plans for development.

  • Proven working experience as a project administrator in the information technology sector

  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills

  • Scrum Master certification a super plus
