MetaOptima Technology Inc. is one of the fastest growing startups looking for a highly-driven and talented individual interested in working with our executive team. We are seeking a Financial Controller. Under the direction of the CFO, you will oversee all finance & accounting operations of the Company. The Company has operations in Canada, Australia, and the United States. The Financial Controller will report to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).


Responsibilities

  • Oversee all day-to-day financial activities within the Company such as: treasury management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll

  • Maintain the integrity of all financial information within the company. This includes regular monthly and quarter close activities as well as review over the records of subsidiary companies.

  • Lead the annual year-end audit and prepare all year-end tax material 

  • Prepare monthly consolidated reports for the Board of Directors, investors, and various govt. grants.

  • Prepare and submit all required government remittances such as GST, PST, EHT, WorkSafe BC, EBC, etc. 

  • Maintain the annual budget

  • Continually develop and Implement best practices

  • As required, assist the CFO with matters related to financing and raising investor capital


Requirements

  • CPA Designation in good standing

  • At least 3 years of previous industry experience or Big 4 preferred. 

  • Strong understanding of IFRS

  • Advanced Excel skills (E.g. pivot tables, vlookup, etc.)

  • Attention to detail

  • Excellent communication skills

  • A flexible attitude and willingness to take on a variety of tasks related to the role

  • Training and support will be available depending on the requirements and experience level of the candidate

  • Ability to work under tight timelines; thrive in a cooperative team environment; and work with both internal and external teams under strict confidentiality

  • An energetic, forward-thinking, individual with high ethical standards, sound technical skills and analytical abilities who would thrive in a dynamic environment focused on growth

  • Proficiency with Xero, ADP, and Salesforce considered an asset.
